Good luck to you. My problem is that the engine seems to be missing at low speed, - rpms. Does not happen upon normal acceleration. I have an 04 Nissan Maxima also and I have the same problem as others. The car jerks when shifting down or from park to drive or vice versa. I've only had the car a little over a year and now is not the time for this type expense.

Starts hard, then easier. If i let it sit for about 5 minutes starts fine and is back in first. Noticed from another blog, that ground wire was totally broke off, pulled the battery box out and changed. I am having the same problem with my Nissan Maxima call nissa corp. I just bought a Nissan Maxima and it is wonderful. But in the last week, the transmission has started being stuck in 5th gear.

I'll start the car and it will either run properly with no jerking for a couple of minutes, or it will go straight to fifth gear. Could this be a computer issue, as when working properly there are absolutely no problems and it runs smoothly?

Problem happens most once vehice has warmed up. I have the same problem but luckily my car was still under warranty so they replced the transmission. I got the car back from the dealership and drove it for no more then 2 miles and it was still jerking when downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear and the same from 1st to 2nd. Also they put two transmission onto my car because the first one failed they said.

I think this will be the last time I am buying Nissan or Infiniti. I have an 02 SE, just turned k miles, had to have a transmission rebuild. Slipping from 2nd to 3rd. About all the rest were good! Still a bunch of money. Guess I'll have to keep it for another k miles I bet it makes it Its clearly a factory defect.

My 04 maxima started jerking from 1st to 2nd and after decelerating at mi. No one seems to have a solution They know its a problem but are doing nothing about it. I bought this car thinking that nissans were great dependable cars. This is my first and last Nissan. But my maxima is still doin the same thing when i put it in drive it holds and then it grab the plate hard. THen when i am going 30 or 20 at a low rpm my motor rev high it is like its miss shifting someone out there had ur maxima 04 been doing this to u let me know what is wrong with it.
