Plymouth Satellite Hemi: A Profile of a Muscle Car | HowStuffWorks

A self-described old car nut, he caters to classic car owners in the area. A grinning Dave Cornelius stepped out of his new acquisition, a Plymouth Belvedere Satellite two-door hardtop.

He should have known from the sound. The guy that had it was driving it. When I first saw it, it was parked at his business with a bunch of other cars he has. Cornelius ran across the Satellite in the forum forbbodiesonly. Since the Plymouth was pretty close in southwestern Wisconsin, he drove over to have a look.

Finding this Plymouth started out as more of an adventure to say he looked at a Hemi car that was for sale. After the ride, Cornelius asked if he could drive the car. A mechanic at the dealership, right there in the same area of Wisconsin, bought the car and kept it for the next 40 years.

The only thing not original on the car is the front bumper, which he damaged when he hit the mailbox. The paint is original, but a front fender appears to have been repainted, at least partially, because Cornelius found a little bit of old white paint on top of a fender emblem. Cornelius believes he actually bought a much better car than the exterior rust would indicate: In other words, the exterior rust hole hid a Rare Find in the form of an original, mostly untouched Hemi.
